Make highlights follow the grain.
Texture anisotropy improves minification. Physical anisotropy changes the shape of a material’s specular lobe. This study loads a generated glTF fixture through the real loader extension and lets the highlight direction move across three brushed-metal specimens.

The extension direction describes the axis where the specular reflection stretches; the microscopic grooves that cause it run perpendicular. A map can vary direction and strength per texel.
The study uses the real GLTFLoader extension path and an explicit tangent basis so the material result is attributable to the glTF contract.
Derived from the official glTF + anisotropy example, GLTFLoader, MeshPhysicalMaterial, and KHR_materials_anisotropy. Use ?forceWebGL=1 to inspect the labeled WebGL2 reference.
