THREE.JS / SOURCE CONTRACT 354
Render into the layer.
WebGL2 can attach one layer of a DataArrayTexture as a framebuffer target. This route renders a source slice into a native WebGLArrayRenderTarget, then samples the rendered array layer in the visible preview.

Initializing array targetWebGL2 / sampler2DArray
Allocating an eight-layer framebuffer attachment…
This route covers native WebGL2 WebGLArrayRenderTarget layer attachment, setRenderTarget(target, layer), sampler2DArray preview, selected-layer readback, and teardown. It does not claim the official compressed head asset, exact dimensions/pixels, GUI/Stats presentation, device limits, or whole-example fidelity.
The source array is deterministic; every write renders only the selected layer while the target retains the full eight-layer texture.
